London Plan NHS HUDU Model 2026

The NHS London Healthy Urban Development Unit (HUDU) Model is a comprehensive tool to assess the health service requirements resulting from future population projections and forms the basis of the data in this table. The model was run in April 2026 to help understand the healthcare floorspace requirements generated by housing related population growth in London up to 2041. However, it should be noted that the NHS model of care is changing. This transformation in the way services are delivered means that in the future people should be able to access the majority of their health and care needs closer to home. While this data provides a useful starting point for understanding overall health space needs, local planning authorities should work closely with their Integrated Care Board (ICB) to ensure they have an up-to-date understanding of local needs.
