Cards Transferred by Top 5 States

This dataset shows monthly counts of new Washington State driver licenses and identification cards (ID) where customers presented licenses or IDs from other states or countries. The data is organized by Washington counties where the customers live. It shows where the previous driver licenses or ID cards were issued.

1. This report doesn't represent all new to Washington residents; only those who presented a license or ID from a prior state or country when receiving their Washington driver license or ID card.
2. Counts include driver licenses and ID cards issued to persons returning to Washington and first-time Washington residents.
3. Data in the "Country issuing previous license or ID" field is not an indicator of race, ethnicity, citizenship, or immigration status.
4. "Prior State of USA issued license or ID" is only populated when the issuing country is the United States.
5. International Standard (ISO) and IRS Codes are included in this data set to make it easier to combine with other country-centric data sets.
6. In April 2020, all driver licensing offices were closed. Due to this, there is no data for April.
Category demographics
Period of Time Data includes counts from September 2018 through the end of the last full year.
